The Augusta Campus of Georgia Military College invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Computer Science, CyberSecurity and Computer Information Systems. GMC Augusta operates on an accelerated quarter system offering five terms per year. This position within Academic Affairs will report directly to the department chair of Mathematics, Business and Computer Information Systems. This is a full-time, annually renewable faculty position with a teaching load of 20 credit hours per quarter (Fall 1, Fall, Winter, and Spring).  The contract period is for twelve months. Teaching is not required during the summer term but faculty, who teach in the summer are compensated additionally in accordance with the adjunct faculty pay scale. The position includes required regular evening teaching assignments to support the needs of non-traditional students. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The ideal candidate will be able to teach a variety of computer science courses. Georgia Military College focuses on providing learner-centered education that is active and engaging. Faculty members prepare students to transfer to a four-year institution to complete their liberal arts track, and for a BAS degree through AAS.CIS.

Required Skills:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree
  • A minimum of 18 semester hours/30 quarter hours of graduate level coursework in computer science, management information systems, computer engineering, software engineering, information technology or a related field of study in computer science.
  • Applicant must be willing to teach day, evening, and/or weekend courses. Contracts are for up to 12 months; renewable upon availability of classes and satisfactory job performance. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional graduate and undergraduate coursework beyond base qualifications in computer programming I and II sequence, programming languages, web design, human–computer interaction, user interface design, usability engineering, networking, information security, information assurance, network security, distributed systems security, cyber security, data analysis and design, data mining, management information systems
  • Prior college level teaching experience in the field of computer science, management information systems, computer engineering, software engineering, information technology, cyber security or a related field of study in computer science.
  • Experience teaching freshman and sophomore level courses in computer science, management information systems, computer engineering, software engineering, information technology, cyber security, or a related field of study in computer science. 
  • PhD is preferred. 
  • Experience in a Community College environment is preferred.
  • Applicant must be willing to teach day, evening, and/or weekend courses. Contracts are for up to 12 months; renewable upon availability of classes and satisfactory job performance. 
  • Experience with online learning management systems is a plus.
